About Me
change a room color without repainting

I love playing with colors in my home. Changing the color in my living room used to be a big job. I used to have to repaint the entire room to change the color scheme but have since learned to keep the walls and flooring neutral. Using accent colors in the room can make it very easy to change the overall appearance of the room without going to the expense or work of repainting. My blog will show you what you can do to change the color in your rooms without having to go through the process of painting the entire room.

Are You Designing Your Own House?

Martin Horton

is your dream of building your own house finally coming true? Maybe you have decided that you want to build a house in the country. Or you might have found exactly the right lot on which to build your house right in your own neighborhood. Perhaps you are renovating a very old house. Whatever the case, from planning the design of your new home around your life style to finding an expert who does architectural design, here are some ideas that might help you as you are designing your own house.

Your Life Style - As you are planning the design of your house, consider how it will be used. For example, if you do a lot of entertaining, you might want a very open design, perhaps linking the main living room with the dining room, thus giving you more space for guests who will be coming to your events. If you are wanting the same thing in a house you are renovating, consider creating a more open space by eliminating a wall between two or more rooms. If you absolutely love to work in the kitchen, not only cooking and baking, but also using the room for entertainment purposes, you'll more than likely want to include a large kitchen area in your house plans. Does your family enjoy watching movies and television? If so, consider including an entertainment room in the house plans.

The Architectural Rendering - Once you have established the kind of house you want, you'll need an architectural design that the actual builders will be able to use as they work on your house. Of course, if you have training in architecture yourself, you've got it made. Otherwise, you'll want to find somebody who has the skills to do the architectural rendering of the house you want, whether it's a renovation or whether you are starting from scratch. The individual who does the architectural rendering will have the training to give you ideas, too. For example, if you have several children, the architectural designer might recommend that you add a loft to the design of your house. If you want to entertain outside, the design might include the addition of an outdoor kitchen and patio space.

As you make your plans, consider searching for ideas that might be found in magazines. As you find pictures of things you want to include in your own home, put them in a file so that you can later share them with the architectural designer. Contact a company, like WOODBOURNE DESIGN, for more help.
